Crack the Code: Explore Quizizz Basics

On Quizizz, a game code or a join code is a unique numerical code that is generated whenever users host a Quiz or a Lesson. Students can visit quizizz.com/join and enter this code to join the activity. Game codes are automatically generated. 

This means that all users need to do is host a Quiz or Lesson live or assign it as homework. Once this is done, participants will see a game code that they can share with their students. For a live game, users will see the game code or the join code in their live dashboard. 

Paper Power: Step-by-Step Approach to Quizizz

Paper Mode is a Quizizz game mode that supports blended learning and classrooms without 1:1 personal devices for students. All users need is one mobile phone, the Quizizz app, and a printer to print personalized QR codes for students. Project the quiz questions on the computer, and scan students’ responses using the Quizizz mobile app.

How does Paper Mode work

Paper Mode is a Quizizz that support all devices, Here is pattern:

• Every student gets a unique, printed, reusable Q-card.
• This card consists of a specialized QR code. It is numbered so users can easily keep track of all participants.
• The four sides of the Q-Card are marked A, B, C, and D. These letters correspond to the four different answer options for a Multiple Choice Question.
• When presented with a question, students rotate and display their Q-cards such that the correct answer option is on top.
• The Q-cards are then scanned using the users’ Quizizz mobile app to record students’ responses.

Focus Power: Unlock Quiz Mode 

With Focus mode, users will be notified whenever a student tries to open another tab or switch to another tab on their device while attempting a quiz in Test Mode. When users enable Test Mode, students are required to take the quiz in full screen. If students quit the full screen to switch to or open another tab, they are warned and are dissuading them from cheating. 

Users will be notified if students continue to switch tabs while attempting the quiz. Focus Mode is designed to prevent students from cheating by looking up answers from other tabs on their devices. Focus Mode also enables users to correctly evaluate their students’ understanding, and all students have the same/no resources while being tested.

To enable Focus Mode for a Quiz

Follow these steps:

• Create a quiz that is ready to be played as a live student-paced quiz.
• Click on Start a Live Quiz and select the Classic Mode.
• Select the Test mode between Team, Classic, and Test Modes.
• Once users enable the Test mode, they will not be able to set the participant attempt as students can attempt the quiz only once.
• Toggle with advanced settings if required.
• Once ready, click on the start test in fullscreen mode option.
• Copy and share the game code with students using their preferred LMS. Users can also share the game code using Twitter, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or Remind.
• Set the Test Timer if required. Users can set a quiz conducted in focus mode in between 0 minutes to 5 hours.
• Once students are ready, click on Start.
• Students will get a pop-up on their respective devices that the quiz they are attempting is conducted in Focus mode. Users cannot leave the Quizizz screen during the quiz.
• The host has the option to dismiss the notification or remove the student and prevent them from further attempting the quiz.
• Users can access the quiz results under the Report tab.
• Applicants can also play the same quiz again or assign the same quiz and homework.

Full Potential: Mastery with Mastery Peak Mode

Mastery Peak is a live game mode on Quizizz where students answer questions as they make their way to the top of a mountain. This game mode combines practice through spaced repetition with gamification to create an engaging learning experience. In Mastery Peak mode, students aim to achieve an accuracy goal by reattempting incorrectly answered questions. 

They also get to use power-ups and overcome challenges at regular intervals by playing mini-games.Teachers can observe their students’ progress in real-time with the live dashboard. The dashboard displays the student’s positions on the various leaderboard tiers and shows the number of questions that have been reattempted.

With this game mode, students can achieve mastery together while being challenged or assisted as per their needs. Those who lead the pack up the mountain can tackle obstacles to clear the path for their peers. Meanwhile, those who require more support can boost their performance with power-ups.

Cave of Choices:

The different mini-games or obstacles that they need to get past. Although there is a long list of such games, the following guide will explore the most played mini games on the Quizizz App in previous years. 

Circle Wars: To succeed, players need to achieve an accuracy rate of at least 80%. After completing the task, their best score is recorded. If their accuracy is among the highest in the classroom, their achievement is displayed at the top.

Find Your Essentials: This classic memory game presents students with a 4×4 grid of tiles, each hiding an essential item needed for a trek. Students need to click on the tiles to reveal the items behind them and create matching pairs.

Bat Cave: Students must use the sonic remote to deflect the bats from their trajectory and clear a path. They must be cautious, though; these bats are quick. Students must steer clear of the falling rocks by dodging them. They can control their movements by using the right and left buttons on their keyboards, ensuring they stay out of harm’s way.

Quizizz needs a steady internet connection to work. If users have frequent disconnections, then users may experience difficulties using Quizizz. Please ensure users’ internet connection is steady, and verify that they have sufficient bandwidth.
